12 Mar Happy birthday The Internet
It’s been 25 years since the Internet was born. I don’t think anyone back then could have imagined the impact it would have in the coming decades, I know we didn’t, we were all too busy watching episodes of Mysterious Cities of Gold.
It is no coincidence that today was also the day that Sir Tim Berners-Lee has called for the Internet to have its own ‘Magna Carta’ bill of rights. With increasing concerns about government control and surveillance of online activities, he believes it is vital that society can use the Internet as a ‘natural’ medium without worrying about government agencies ‘looking over your shoulder’.
